Why Do I Do This Stuff?

Like many children of the early 2000s, some of my first memories of being inspired by art was Batman the Animated Series. This started a lifelong love of illustrating and a brief stint of Lego stop-motion videos circa 2008.

What did I do with this passion for creating?

I shoved it all down when I went to college to study something that would actually make money.

I started my college career studying marketing as a compromise, then took Accounting 1 and promptly changed my major.

While some might think of it as Peter Pan Syndrome, I can’t imagine doing anything else with my life.

Experience

While I do it for the love of the game, I get the privilege of doing this professionally.

Through the company Outdoor Cap, I had the opportunity to design hats for the likes of Toyota’s TRD division, Jeep, and King Ranch. While all of the clients I got to work with were great, working with Toyota was a dream project as a vintage 4x4 enthusiast.

More recently, I’ve been designing for America’s largest print publisher, People Inc., on their Better Homes & Gardens line of products as a packaging designer. The joke on our team is that we design trash, but none of us are immune to buying something just because the packaging looked sick.
